9/11 Memorial 5k Run in Lower Manhattan. I love covering different kid of events around the city, and this 5k is probably one of the few sports events I cover every year. Forever grateful for the connection with Jin, the director of photography at the 9/11 Memorial.

The route begins at Pier 26 and will follow along Battery Park City, with views of One World Trade Center. Immediately following the Run/Walk, participants are welcome to attend Family Day at the corner of Liberty and Greenwich streets, adjacent to the 9/11 Memorial plaza. There will be food trucks, music and activities for kids.

The mission of the Memorial and Museum is to bear solemn witness to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 and to honor the nearly 3,000 victims of those attacks and all those who risked their lives to save others.
