NYBG Frida Kahlo Exhibit
Ben Hider - Event Photographer based in New York City and Westchester
This blockbuster exhibition is the first to examine Frida Kahlo’s keen appreciation for the beauty and variety of the natural world, as evidenced by her home and garden as well as the complex use of plant imagery in her artwork. Featuring a rare display of more than a dozen original Kahlo paintings and works on paper, this limited six-month engagement also reimagines the iconic artist’s famed garden and studio at the Casa Azul, her lifelong home in Mexico City.
Accompanying events invite visitors to learn about Kahlo’s life and enduring cultural influence through music, lectures, Frida al Fresco evenings, Mexican-inspired shopping and dining experiences, and hands-on art activities for kids. As a complement to your visit, use our new mobile guide to see rare photos and footage, listen to expert commentary, and create your own Frida Selfie to share with friends.

New York Botanical Gardens Winter Wonderland
in Photo
The New York Botanical Gardens is one of the most amazing places to photograph in all of New York City at any time of the year. This snow storm provided the perfect atmosphere for a winter garden. Even during bad weather it's well worth a visit to see inside the incredible Enid A. Haupt conservatory.
About the NYBG -
The New York Botanical Garden is an iconic living museum and, since its founding in 1891, has served as an oasis in this busy metropolis.
As a National Historic Landmark, this 250-acre site's verdant landscape supports over one million living plants in extensive collections. Each year more than one million visitors enjoy the Garden not only for its remarkable diversity of tropical, temperate, and desert flora, but also for programming that ranges from renowned exhibitions in the Haupt Conservatory to festivals on Daffodil Hill.
The Garden is also a major educational institution. More than 300,000 people annually—among them Bronx families, school children, and teachers—learn about plant science, ecology, and healthful eating through NYBG's hands-on,curriculum-based programming. Nearly 90,000 of those visitors are children from underserved neighboring communities, while more than 3,000 are teachers from New York City's public school system participating in professional development programs that train them to teach science courses at all grade levels.
NYBG operates one of the world's largest plant research and conservation programs, with nearly 200 staff members—including 80 Ph.D. scientists—working in the Garden's state-of-the-art molecular labs as well as in the field, where they lead programs in 49 countries.
About Ben Hider Photography -
After nearly 5 years running the photography department of the New York Stock Exchange we are now focused on growing an independent photography business that covers press events, meetings and headshots across the US. Some of the amazing brands that we work with include the New York Botanical Gardens, Louis Vuitton, Fox, Morgan Stanley, BNY Mellon and many more. We’ve chased Where’s Waldo? across the city, been blessed by the Dalai Lama in the Himalaya’s and crawled through billions of dollars of technology to setup remote cameras.
