Photographing Chef Marcus Samuelsson for the Associated Press was a great experience, and I have a lot of respect for him as a chef. His approach to food is so unique—he blends different cultural influences with a focus on local ingredients, and you can see how much thought and care goes into every dish. It’s clear that his dedication to the craft goes beyond just cooking; he’s genuinely passionate about what he does, and it shows in how he works.

Watching him in the kitchen, interacting with his team, and talking about his food philosophy gave me a deeper appreciation for the level of skill and creativity it takes to be at the top of the culinary world. He’s one of those chefs who isn’t just about creating dishes, but about pushing boundaries and bringing people together through food. Photographing someone with that level of influence and expertise was a privilege, and it was rewarding to capture him in his element.
