You spend $15 on lunch because you live in New York City. You feed 60 kids with $15 because you’re a New Yorker. And with nearly 420,000 in our city facing hunger, you know you’re going to do something about it.

This week was assigned a portrait shoot for Care Magazine of Nina Beaty who is a Lung Cancer Survivor. Her story is really fascinating, starting with a family history that embedded with Broadway royalty, her grandfather was Richard Rodgers (of Rodgers and Hammerstein). After a chance encounter with a doctor who was treating her mother and a very luckily timed scan, she caught her cancer at just the right time to be detected and is doing great on a trial immunotherapy treatment.
Shot with the Fujifilm GFX 50S and 63mm F2.8 lens and lighting is sometime window light and sometime Profoto B2's.

I'm so glad we rescheduled this shoot for after the snow storm that happened a couple of weeks ago. It was still freezing cold but the photos don't show that. Geoffrey Zakarian was super to work with and being able to photograph an Iron Chef and Food Network celebrity is like winning the Super Bowl for me.
Shot with a Canon 5D Mark IV and 24-70mm F2.8 lens. Light is a Profoto B2 with a large profoto deep umbrella.

On a slightly lighter note than the previous post, today is the first day of spring. Here are some more photographs from yesterdays Poultry School at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture.

It's never an easy thing to witness, or photograph, but butchering chickens is an everyday part of life for a carnivore and you couldn't have a much happier life than a Stone Barns chicken.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies® program honors companies that excel in three areas – promoting ethical business standards and practices internally, enabling managers and employees to make good choices, and shaping future industry standards by introducing tomorrow’s best practices today. Honorees have historically out-performed others financially, demonstrating the connection between good ethical practices and performance that’s valued in the marketplace.
